Hangin' On A String

Back in June, either side of our Center Parcs holiday, we caught up with old friends of ours from our life pre-children and it was great and I promised myself that I would try harder to stay in touch more regularly but one month on this just hasn't happened and to see why I just need to look at a  day in the life of me, basically it doesn't stop! Dusk til dawn non stop curious small people need of my full attention.

This morning E and I were first awake, we spent a while on youtube watching amazing short films animated using lego and playmobil set ups - some recreations of actual historical battles, before
breakfast, which usually spans a couple of hours to accommodate different waking up times and appetites.

As TDO is off today S stayed home and the boys and I walked to the library had a  story, did a few errands in the village and home via the park for a play on the tyre swing. The same Mums who were chatting outside the school  gate on our way out were still there on our way back.

Weed had arrived when we returned home and was busy kitting out Stacie (Barbie's younger sister) and Tawny (Barbie's Horse) with Olympic outfits as well as going through the new rock collection with S. E wanted to play battleships with me so we did, then he wanted to look at lego Lord of the Rings but the big PC's broadband was not connecting so whilst I was waiting for that I start balling the 70 individual feet into the 35 pairs of socks  that 5 people wear in 7 days and put away some laundry and I see some clothes are outgrown and could go in a charity bag, then the PC is fixed but by this time E is playing lego with O and goes on to do so for an hour or more so I fix lunch and so it goes.

The entire day following this sort of pattern. The different bedtimes works really well for the trio meaning they all have a period of individual attention but of course for me it means there is practically zero clear time.

After lunch today we headed back to Warnham Nature Reserve - A full circle Friday afternoon for a week that started there on Monday morning and met the same Friends too. Mid week the nature warden tweeted say froglets (baby frogs) had been spotted so, with the rainy weather on our side, we drove over.

I saw a few but sadly couldn't get them to stay still long enough for the children to see them. They are there though. Well camouflaged and the size of a finger nail.

After extreme mud at Cass Sculpture and the Lavender farm I left the buggy (not before we'd had fun trying to say muddy buggy which kept coming out as muggy buddy!) so O walked, day dreamt and dawdled the walk around, in fact in was his slow pace that enabled me to see the frog babies at all!

Sandra Dodd writes well about the importance of slowing down and unschooling.

Me, well, aside from driving and my 15 minute blogging window I just dream of sitting down!

July Austerity update - £1 to walk around Warnham all other expenses incurred so far today within usual shopping budget.
